Pancake lunch

It's been a busy week. Going in early to work, coming home late, and not seeing my kids nearly as much as they're used to. Noah takes it especially hard when he wakes up and I'm already at work.

I usually make him pancakes on Saturdays, and since I missed it last weekend, he's been asking me pretty much every night, "Is it the weekend yet?", sure that he's going to get pancakes in the morning.

On Thursday, in the middle of a busy morning, I got a heartbreaking phone call from Noah (who knows how to dial me up at work), crying about how he thought we were going to make pancakes that morning. Mandy suggested that maybe we could do lunch at the IHOP just down the road from my office. I agreed, and took an early lunch to do it.

Noah was excited, got online with Mandy and picked out what he wanted - the "Funny Face" pancake, a chocolate pancake with whipped cream smile, and chocolate chips. He even drew me a picture of it for me.

Me, and the funny face pancake on  a plate.
Elliot, our little protein-eater, ate pancakes, bacon, eggs, some of my eggs, some of his mom's eggs and ham.

Happy about pancakes

Better than most of my lunch dates.
