Sledding in March

We haven't had good luck playing in the snow with Noah this season. We always get so psyched, get him all dressed up in his snow gear and he isn't into it. Well, we've also not had a chance to take him downhill fast. He's only been pulled around. In Durango, the tubing hill was closed and bunny slope was open to skiers. In KC, we have only had dustings (despite Katie Horners continuing coverage and severe warnings). Yesterday was a failure at the Nicholson's, but it wasn't a big hill. So today, when I suggested we try a big hill Paul decided not to bother getting him in all his gear. We brought it in the car just in case. It's also not as cold today either. We had no video camera and only a cheap point and shoot. Murphy's Law worked!

We started at a local school and he went nuts. We then graduated to Suicide Hill. He was belly laughing the whole time and running back up for more. He really liked going over the moguls/ramps big kids had made and getting airborne. And he loved crashing when I lost control going over the moguls.

I wish it didn't take so long to get a decent snow in Kansas City this year. Looks like this is it until next year.

Mommy's turn!
This place is for little kids - we're headed to Suicide Hill!
We have no pictures of Suicide Hill because it's super crowded. I was in the car with Elliot and I could not even see them the whole time. Paul and Noah came back to the car with a broken sled. It had a big rip/hole in the bottom. I guess they went airborne and landed on a big stump. Noah was hysterically laughing the whole time. Paul on the other hand got quite a bruise on his buns (he won't let me post a picture, but it's quite impressive). Thank goodness Noah wasn't the one hurt. We'll have to get a new sled for next year.

Once we headed home we of course had hot chocolate ---- or should I say whipped cream, because that's all Noah really cared about (I'm more of a marshmallow kind of girl myself)We did take a few short video clips on our point and shoot camera:

I love the smile on your face as you are going downhill with Noah! It looks like you all had a blast. Good idea with the video; I'll have to try that.

Why am I not surprised that Noah didn't like the snow until he got to do the "big kid" stuff? I LOVE it!! I'm so glad he got to have fun!
